To my fellow technologist let me start by saying thank you for electing me president of the Pennsylvania Society of Radiologic Technologist. It is a great honor and privilege to serve as your president for the next year.
The Society was reorganized about five years ago. Thanks to the efforts of a few dedicated technologists the Society has managed to grow stronger every year. The Society is a great place to meet fellow technologist and network. You can meet up with old friends and make new ones that will last a lifetime. There may be something that you may need to know that someone in another part of the state may be able to help you with. The Society offers continuing education credit in order to meet the requirements of the ARRT. The Society strongly supports the CARE Bill and we have sent representatives to RT in DC to help get this bill passed. When it does we can say that the Society had a part in our government process.
The Society strongly encouraged student involvement in the society. Over the years we have had poster completion, techni-bowl completion and have had student mentors serve in various roles. By encouraging students to get involved as students, hopefully they will remain and be on the board someday.
I have personally been involved with the Society for a number of years in a variety of areas. In my experience I have nothing but good to say about the society. The Society has helped me grow as a person and as a technologist. I strongly encourage each and every technologist to get involved in the society. I know everyone cannot serve on the Board of Directors, however there are several things you can do. Serve on a committee, be a judge, or just help out wherever you are needed.
The board of directors can be contacted if you have any questions. We have a great web site and it has valuable information that can be very useful.
In conclusion I would like to say we all can make a change and I strongly encourage each and every one of you to become involved and help the Society grow stronger year after year.
This is your chosen profession and you should be proud to be a Radiologic Technologist and tell the world that I AM A RADIOLOGICAL TECHNOLOGIST PROFESSIONAL AND PROUD OF IT.
